Can you believe that all these pictures were taken within 10 minutes of each other? The one on the far left (the lightest one) was even taken last!This is the creative control that a photographer can have by simply using various shutter speeds and one tiny light. FUN!
Technical note for the keeners: When using a flash, Shutter Speed determines the amount of ambient light the camera sensor sees (the brightness or darkness of the background), while Aperture determines how much the subject will be exposed to the flash--(the brightness or darnkess of the subject).
I've met photographers who limit themselves because they feel that they don't have all the professional studio lighting equipment. But really...all you need is one source of light. For example...the sun, a desk lamp...a street light, a cell phone...get my drift? Perhaps I'll do a little
experiment and post a blog about various light sources!
In this instance, I used a standard speed light --Nikon SB-800 on a light stand with a shoot through umbrella..Voila! an affordable and portable studio!
