GOLD MEDAL Jon Montgomery

Gold medallist Jon Montgomery and coach Nathan Cicoria Men's Skeleton, Vancouver 2010

What can I say! I'm having such an incredible time meeting new friends and experiencing the Olympic buzz of the city.
I snagged this shot after Jon's first run of the second day! He was just hours away from becoming a National Hero.

Getting this view was not an easy task for a fairly little girl like me.
I somehow managed to get near the official Media Pit but it was still hard to see past tall men with big lenses. Even though I made friends with the shooters from the Toronto Star, and The Globe and Mail as well as several German publications I was stuck.
Finally, after what seemed sooo frustrating, I made friends with two hardcore fans who shoved over and gave me access minutes before I got this shot.
I guess the lesson of the day for me is...Make friends.

Olympic Torch

ACCESS! Sometimes it really is who you know. Because a friend of mine was gracious enough to invite me to an event, I was so lucky as to get access to the 11th floor of a building downtown to capture this image of the Olympic Torch.

Thank goodness I brought my Camera-- (sometimes when I know there may be "festivities" I leave it at home).
THANKS FRIEND

OHH Canada

So I've decided--call it Olympic inspiration--that my next few posts will be dedicated to sharing images of the beautiful land that is Canada!
I only wish that I had pictures from all the provinces, but I'm excited to share those that I have from Alberta and British Columbia.

This shot is my big brother on Fawcett lake, Alberta. (I can't remember if he caught anything that day). Every year my family goes up to Northern Alberta where the Aurora Borealis dances in the sky, the moose roam freely and the fish bite almost as often as the mosquitoes.

My brother and I used to do a canoe trip up the river and sometimes even spend a night in the woods (without out-houses even).

After a few weeks of Olympic pandemonium here in Vancouver, a week up there would sure be welcomed.
